Your mission:

The Ore Slurry Pipeline (OSP) project is a critical CAPEX project for Ambatovy. This requires Competent Field representative who can stand-alone working infield to follow up the execution, under lead project and Superintendent’s direction.
     Field Supervisor Pipeline is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of pipeline construction, maintenance, and repair projects. This role involves managing field personnel, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations, maintaining project quality standards, and coordinating with project management to ensure timely and efficient project completion. The Field Supervisor ensures that all work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and company policies.

You are responsible to prepare, execute and deliver safely, in time, quality the construction assigned to him/her and need to be able to report and bring technical solution.  In order to drive each project with a clear-defined strategy and in the meantime serve as the primary point of contact for field operations, ensuring smooth communication between management, field staff, and contractors (interface to all stakeholders)

You are also assisting Lead Project Pipeline on a larger and more complex capital projects in delivering the project during the Execution Phase.
 
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors undertaking construction activities under OSP project department and ensuring that contract conditions and quality standards are maintained and completed within time constraints.
  • Cooperating with other departments to integrate their current and upcoming activities and complete similar duties in the same areas.
  • Leading, managing, and supporting all operational employees so that they are fully conversant with their responsibilities and deliverables under the contract. 
  • Managing the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and supervisors, maintaining strict control over the accuracy and quality for each work activity.

Your profile:
  • You have a strong leadership with a capability to manage and deliver a pipeline project and ensuring installation is carried as per construction drawings and code ;
  • Previous experience in Project/ Construction Engineering/ Management in heavy industries/ mining/oil & gas ;
  • Strong technical knowledge in related engineering (electrical/ instrumentation/ mechanical or civil/ structural);
  • Experience in project management including reporting, quality control, budgets and cost control, and administration;
  • Strong relationship building and management skills with a good communication skill – Fluency in English and French;
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on continuous improvement;
  • You have 10 years of progressive experience in pipeline project management;
  • You have an engineering degree in mechanical or equivalent – a Welding certificate is a plus.

Position Specific Accountabilities
 
  1. Team Supervision and Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a team of field personnel, ensuring efficient workflow and high productivity while maintaining a strong safety culture.
    • Assign tasks and provide clear direction to the crew, ensuring that all workers are equipped with the necessary tools and training to complete tasks successfully.
    • Foster a positive team environment by providing leadership, coaching, and guidance to team members.
  2. Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and other industry best practices.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily briefings to ensure continuous awareness of safety procedures.
    • Perform safety inspections on the job site, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
    • Respond to and report any accidents, near-misses, or safety violations promptly.
  3. Project Progress and Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor and track daily project progress to ensure milestones and deadlines are met according to project specifications.
    • Conduct quality control checks to ensure that pipeline installation and maintenance activities comply with design specifications and industry standards.
    • Resolve any on-site issues, deviations, or challenges that may impact project quality or timeline.
  4. Resource and Materials Management:
    • Oversee the procurement, usage, and inventory of materials, tools, and equipment required for pipeline construction and maintenance.
    • Ensure that all resources are utilized efficiently and that proper documentation of equipment and material usage is maintained.
    • Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of necessary supplies to the field.
  5. Communication and Reporting:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding field operations and any issues encountered.
    • Provide daily or weekly progress reports, including details on safety, schedule adherence, resource utilization, and any challenges faced during operations.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of daily field activities, crew performance, safety observations, and other relevant information.
  6. Problem Solving and Decision Making:
    • Identify and resolve any technical or operational issues that may arise during the pipeline construction or maintenance processes.
    • Make real-time decisions to address unexpected challenges and ensure that work is not delayed.
    • Recommend solutions or adjustments to improve processes, enhance productivity, or resolve issues impacting project completion.
  7. Training and Development:
    • Ensure all crew members are adequately trained in safe pipeline construction practices, equipment operation, and relevant safety standards.
    • Identify skill gaps and provide training or mentorship to enhance the performance and capabilities of field staff.
    • Promote continuous learning and development by ensuring that workers remain current with industry advancements and safety certifications.
  8. Environmental Stewardship:
    • Ensure environmental protection procedures are followed during pipeline construction and maintenance activities.
    • Monitor the work site for compliance with environmental regulations and take proactive measures to prevent environmental damage.
